How long has it been since the last time you surrender yourself to a starry night? I bet for those who used to lived in KL, gazing at the stars would not be in any of your to-do list for the day; thanks to our hectic and busy life. I bet even to spare some time to look up at the stars during our journey back home in the middle of the night would be time consuming. Besides, by the time you got into your car and you reached home, you will be too tired to enjoy the view. But then, that was just me guessing since I was once in that situation before right after I graduated and started my career.
During my uni days way back… say what… 10 years ago, I just loved to sit on the bench beside the badminton court in Kamsis B UKM, with my best friend at that time, staring at the stars pointlessly. Honestly, no serious business involved here as we don’t study astronomy, however it was merely enjoying light chat while admiring the beautiful various patterns of the stars. Our friends used to call us names as MINAH JIWANG or LAYAN BLUES, since only those who were in love likes to count the stars. Kira bintang! But hey! Where got layan blues? Not us la! Hahahahaha… Hadoooi…
Anyways, my interest towards stars doesn’t end there. I never stop looking at the stars every time I had the chance to. To me, it’s like a therapy. I didn’t think of any thing else during that particular moment, only the kalimah SUBHANALLAH came out of my mouth. Praise to ALLAH for HIS beautiful creation to all human kind.
I was finally blessed with that particular moment once again when I joined DPA. It was during one of our sea expedition to Pulau Rumbia during our OB module. It was raining earlier that day towards Maghrib prayer. At first we thought we wouldn’t be able to sit by the beach as earlier planned but as the night seems to be at its darkest, finally the rain stopped. The sky was all covered by thick clouds, signs that it might rain again anytime soon. However, my friends and I simply ignoring this and took several tent sheet and started spreading it on the beach. There we laid down and started to sing. More and more songs being sung out and something amazing happened!
The sky suddenly being cleared from all the thick clouds. And there we witnessed the most beautiful night ever. Stars shone brightly from one end to the other. I have never seen so many stars in my whole life before. The view was so breathtaking. However I was quite sad since I wasn’t able to capture the moment. How I wish i have my camera with me but definitely i will remember this night for as long as i could.
i just do not know how to narrate my experience and love with the stars and but I would like to suggest to all of you readers out there to enjoy stars gazing at least once in your life especially when you are not in the city. Maybe at that time you’ll feel what I felt.
